Abstract
En 1977, au moment de l'application de la Loi 101, on se préoccupait beaucoup de la quantité et de la qualité du travail effectué en français au Québec. La Commission Gendron avait auparavant indiqué que 82 % de toutes les communications écrites se faisaient en anglais, au Québec. En vertu de la Loi 101, toutes les entreprises établies au Québec et comptant 50 employés ou plus sont tenues de fonctionner en français. Elles doivent posséder un «certificat de francisation» prouvant que tel est le cas. Quand la Loi 101 fut adoptée, la plupart des entreprises ont eu quatre ans pour s'y conformer.
