Abstract
This paper will demonstrate how the role of education in a minority language context is much more comprehensive than simply ensuring academic success or instruction in English and is inherently linked to the transmission of its collective history and culture over generations with particular emphasis on the English-speaking community of Quebec (hereafter referred to as the ESCQ), who are struggling to sustain their vitality.
