Brief Submitted to the Special Commission on the Impact of Screens and Social Media on Young People's Health and Development
Abstract
The use of screens and social media has become an integral part of the daily lives of children and adolescents. While these tools offer significant opportunities for learning, social interaction, and entertainment, their excessive and unsupervised use raises concerns about their impact on the mental, physical, and social well-being of young people. The English Parents Committee Association (EPCA) is proud to present this brief to the Special Commission on the Impact of Screens and social media on Young People's Health and Development. Drawing from evidence-based research, parental surveys, and consultations with educational stakeholders, this brief aims to provide practical recommendations for fostering balanced and healthy screen use among children and adolescents.
